Marathon Volunteers

During any large race that is open to the public there is a desperate need for volunteers on the day of and the days leading up to the event. The Georgia marathon also needs volunteers to help make the weekend go off without a hitch.

Prior to the race there are volunteers that hand out the welcome race packets. On that day the volunteers must also keep track of the participants that have checked in. On the day of the event there are designated volunteers such as the “ask-me” assistants that can help the participants to correctly navigate the course before the event. The course marshals are place at different places along the route to direct the participants and make sure they are going to the right way. Aid station attendants are one of the most important people along the course. These volunteers provide water for the participants to stay hydrated during the race.

There are other volunteer opportunities as well and each and every event always needs volunteers!
