Mizuno Pace Team

 

The ING Georgia Half Marathon is proud to have a unique group of enthusiastic runners leading pace groups for the following finishing times: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30 and 2:45.  Pace groups are designed to help participants reach the finish line while maintaining pace, staying safe and most importantly, having FUN!  Register with the Mizuno Pace Team at the ING Georgia Marathon Health & Fitness Expo Inspired by Mizuno, March 19 & 20, 2010, or contact Susan Jones, Mizuno Pace Team Coordinator.  Click here for frequently asked questions on the Mizuno Pace Team.  The Mizuno Half Marathon Pace Group Leaders are listed below:

1:30 Pace Group Leaders:

• Kevin Patton:  Atlanta Ga, age 39. Pacer for the Chicago Marathon multiple times as well as the 2009 Atlanta Half marathon. Has run 31 marathons (PR: 2:49 - Austin '04) and 20+ half marathons (PR: 1:21 ING Ga '08). Loves the Georgia Bulldogs! 
• Jamie Kohm:  Pacer for the 2007, 2008 and 2009 ING Georgia Marathon and 2009 Atlanta Half Marathon.  Phidippides/Mizuno Racing Team.  17 marathons.  PR:  2:54 at 2002 Boston Marathon.  42 years old.  Favorite movie:  Munich.
• Dwight Thomas:  Pacer for 2007 and 2009 ING Georgia Marathon.  Atlanta Track Club Competitive Team.  PR:  2:25 at 2003 Rocket City Marathon, All American 1987 & 1988 South Florida.  39 years old.  Favorite movie:  The Godfather.   

1:35 Pace Group Leaders:

• Katie Monroe:  Member of the Atlanta Track Club Women's Competitive Team.  9 marathons (PR:  2:57) and 15 half marathons (PR 1:22).  Paced with the 3:20 ING Georgia Marathon group and 1:30 pace group with the 2009 Atlanta Half Marathon.
• Elizabeth Loskin:  Phidippides/Mizuno Racing Team.  Atlanta native.  Has run 10 half marathons (PR:  1:32:07 at the 2008 Atlanta Half Marathon) and 4 marathons (PR:  3:11:44 at the 2009 ING NYC Marathon).  ATC member.  36 years old.
• Jerry Dubner:  Member of the Team Phidippides and Atlanta Track Club.  Pacer for 3 ING Georgia Marathons and 2009 Atlanta Half Marathon.  43 marathons, including 17 Boston Marathons (in a row!).  

1:40 Pace Group Leaders: 

• Lynn Keppler:  Pacer for the 2007 ING Georgia Marathon.  Atlanta Track Club Competitive Team.  PR:  2:50 at 2001 NYC Marathon (17th USATF National Championship).  XC & Track at Furman University.  31 years old.  Favorite movie:  Dead Poet's Society 
• Leah Thomas:  Pacer for the 2007 ING Georgia Marathon.  Atlanta Track Club Competitive Team.  2004 US Olympic Marathon Trials Qualifier (2:46), Power Bar Elite Team.  Local Reebok Sponsored Athlete.  Georgia Tech Sports Dietician.  XC & Track at UT Chattanooga.  30 years old.
• Laurie Knowles:  Atlanta Track Club Competitive Team, Marathon trials qualifier in 2008, coach high school cross country at Marist and ran track at University of Arkansas.  30 years old.  

1:45 Pace Group Leaders:

• David Freg: Phidippides/Mizuno Racing Team. Veteran of 10 half-marathons PR: 125:25 at the 2009 ING Georgia Half Marathon and 10 marathons PR: 3:0846 at the 2008 Atlanta Marathon. ATC member. 45 years old.
• Sam Norman: Has been a member of the Atlanta Track Club's Men's Masters Competitive Team for 16 years.  Completed 52 marathons with a PR: 2:41:33 and a half-marathon PR: 1:15:12.
• Mike Popick:  Atlanta Track Club Master's Competitive Team member for 21 consecutive years. Half marathon PR 1:18:12, Marathon PR 2:51:12 set on the Atlanta ATC course. 33 completed marathons. Young age of 61. 

1:50 Pace Group Leaders: 

• Sally Brooking:  Pacer for the 2007 ING Georgia Marathon. Phidippides/Mizuno Racing Team.Hash House Harriers. ATC member. PR: 3:14. 51 Years old. Favorite movie: African Queen. 
• Marty Coleman: Pacer for the 2007 ING Georgia Marathon. Phidippides/Mizuno Racing Team. Hash House Harriers. ATC member. PR: 2:58. 47 years old. Favorite movie: Austin Powers.
• Samra Fleschner: Pacer for the 2009 Atlanta Half Marathon.  Experienced distance runner (including all ING Georgia Half Marathons) Half marathon PR at ING Georgia 2009. 28 years old.  
  

2:00 Pace Group Leaders:

• Sue Hackett: Pacer for the 2007 ING Georgia Marathon. Phidippides/Mizuno Racing Team. Experinced marathoner PR: 3:40 at 2004 ING NYC Marathon. Completed 2006 Lake Placid Ironman. 40 years old. Favorite movie: Shawshank Redemption.
• Kira Wilsterman:  Pacer for the 2009 ING Georgia Marathon and 2009 Atlanta Half Marathon. 
• Orlando Pichardo:  Part of the 2009 4:30 ING Georgia Marathon and the 2009 2:00 Atlanta Half Marathon pacing teams.  Completed 7 marathons PR: 3:54:56, numerous half marathons PR 1:47:02 and an Ironman finisher.  Member of Phidippides/Mizuno Racing Team, Atlanta Track Club and Chattahoochee Running Club.  Has special interest in mentoring new runners.     
  

2:15 Pace Group Leaders:

• Alexis Bender: Completed 8 marathons, 6 half marathons, numerous 5k and 10k trail and road races, and 5 triathlons.  She has been a pacer for the ING Georgia Marathon 3 times, 5:30 in 2007 and 5:00 in 2008 & 2009 and 2:15 for the Atlanta Half Marathon in 2009.
• Melissa Williams: Experienced Marathoner. PR 5:19 at 2006 Marine Corp Marathon. 32 years old.
• Valerie Pichardo:  Completed 7 marathons PR 3:46:01 and numerous half marathons PR 1:42:59.  Active in the running community volunteering and is currently a member of Phidippides/Mizuno Racing Team, Atlanta Track Club and Chattahoochee Running Club.
  

2:30 Pace Group Leaders: 

• Bobby Smith: Experienced Marathoner. First marathon, April 2000 Sydney, Australia time 4:25:00  PR: 3:51:45 at Oklahoma City, 2003. Has completed 11 marathons and 30 half marathons in Sydney, Portland, Niagara Falls, Oklahoma City (4 times), Myrtle Beach, Chickamuga Battlefield, Mercedes, Cherry Blossom, and Knoxville. 54 years old. 
• Leigh Jones:  Has three teenagers who are all runners.  Member of the 50 state marathon Club and have been running marathons since 1998. PR: 4:26.  Completed 41 marathons and 70 or more half marathons. PR: 4:26. 46 years old.  Favorite movie: Miss. Congeniality.
• Beck Simons:  Completed 6 full and 6 half marathons, including the ING Georgia Marathon 2007 and 2008. She has been distance running on the beautiful (and hilly!) streets of Atlanta since 2005 and is thrilled to be a part of the ING Georgia Marathon Mizuno Pacing Team! 
  

2:45 Pace Group Leaders:

• Susan Kolbinsky: Pacer for the 2007 ING Georgia Marathon. Atlanta Galloway Group Leader, 70 Marathons, PR 4:40 Clearwater Beaches Marathon. Nickname "Socks". 46 years old. Favorite movie: Shawshank Redemption.
• Terri O'Leary: Experienced Marathoner. She has completed 39 marathons and is a member of the 50 States Marathon Club. PR 4:45 at the Tybee Island Marathon. Favorite movie: The Blues Brothers.
