Dean Karnazes to Run ING Georgia Marathon Course

as Part of The North Face Endurance 50 Campaign

Karnazes also to Participate in 2007 ING Georgia Marathon Race & Expo

Dean KarnazesDean Karnazes, author of the best-seller Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All-Night Runner, will run the ING Georgia Marathon Course on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 as part of The North Face Endurance 50 campaign – a challenge to run 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 days. The challenge will raise funds for KARNO Kids, a children’s charity focused on youth fitness and activity.

“I look forward to making October 27th a great preview of what will soon be one of the finest marathons in the country I am sure,” said Dean. “What better way to showcase and highlight the terrific course, than to run it for a good cause with local runners. This will be a unique way to jump start the word of mouth campaign for the actual event in March.”

“Dean’s decision to use our course for his Endurance 50 campaign is fantastic,” said Victoria Seahorn, ING Georgia Marathon race director. “Dean’s commitment to the sport of running is unmatched, and we are thrilled he will play such an important role in the 2007 ING Georgia Marathon.”

Karnazes will return to Atlanta in March to be a part of the inaugural ING Georgia Marathon experience. During race week, he will:

§ Speak during the ING Georgia Marathon Health & Fitness Expo on March 23 & 24, 2007

§ Sign copies of his book during the Expo

§ Speak at select schools to promote youth fitness

§ Run in the ING Georgia Marathon as a Pace Group leader

Runners wishing to preview the ING Georgia Marathon course in October with Karnazes can register at www.endurance50.com and pledge a minimum of $100 that will benefit KARNO Kids. The ING Georgia Marathon organizers will support Karnazes in his running of the route by assisting with all of the logistical needs. A detailed account of Dean’s run in October will be available on www.inggeorgiamarathon.com.
