Emory Healthcare joins ING Georgia Marathon as Official Sponsor and Medical Services Provider

ATLANTA – Emory Healthcare has teamed up with ING as an official sponsor and medical provider for the inaugural ING Georgia Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, March 25, 2007.

The 26.2-mile marathon and 13.1-mile half marathon will wind through Atlanta neighborhoods, and both treks lead past both Emory University Hospital on the Emory University campus, and Emory Crawford Long Hospital on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta.

The event will consist of a marathon, a half-marathon and wheelchair events. The race course will travel through the metro Atlanta area's most interesting and historic neighborhoods, including the Sweet Auburn District, Inman Park, Decatur, Midtown and Downtown. Along the way, it will pass landmarks including the King Center, the Carter Center, the Margaret Mitchell House, and Underground Atlanta, where the ING Georgia Marathon will begin and end.

In the coming months, Emory will create and publicize a number of training events and informational seminars led by Emory physicians, which will help marathon participants prepare physically for the challenging event in late March.
