Fuel Up: Don't Run on Empty When Training for a Marathon
Training for a marathon requires running hundreds of miles and burning countless calories. If there's a marathon in your future, these fast facts will help ensure that you're getting the nutrition you need to run the optimal race. For complete article click here.
According to ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon’s Co-Medical Director, Perry Julien, DPM, “The average runner will take approximately 39,000 steps running the inaugural ING Atlanta Marathon. For this reason selecting appropriate footwear designed for running will minimize your chances of developing foot and leg problems during your training and the race. Utilize the expertise of your running specialty store to help chose the best shoe suited for your foot type and running style. Remember to also replace your running shoes on a regular basis. Most running shoes have a life span of 200-500 miles at which point the midsole and outsole of the shoe may lose its effectiveness in supporting and cushioning your feet during your runs through Atlanta."
